Figure 7 : Interface > flush gas tube to mobile phase wick < Theleft side of the “interface” is part of a mobile phase flasc connected through a 5 mm PTF tube with the plastic tube of the aquarium pump. The right side shows a connected screw cup with a used wick. It is taken from a mobile phase system after a run has bin finished. The aquarium pump gas flushes the wick dry within a few seconds to minutes depending on the phase evaporability. The same interface is used to check the wick permeability in case a new wick is installed into the PTFE tube. The gas back pressure should range between 130 to 170 mm water gauge. The “manometer” is connected into the gas tube by a three port T-piece.
